Finally there is a viable alternative to paying $40 odd per month for your mobile phone basic charge.
Net10 has a minimum monthly charge is $15 and no contract. Net10 also sells a great selection of discounted phones, starting from $19.99.

The big boys in this arena, AT&T, Verizon, Blackberry all have similar plans that cost the customer a basic monthly fee – which includes a certain amount of air time, and then charge other fees for calls at certain times and with different rate structures (see chart below).
But now you can also go with a pay as you go plan like the one Net10 has. There is still a monthly charge, but with the case of Net10, it starts at $15/month which is for 150 minutes of call time, in other words basically the minimum amount of call time you would use.
So that works out at a per min rate of 10c – and that is the rate no matter how many minutes you end up using.
Now 150 minutes a month is not much - about 5 minutes a day – but you can add on minutes either online, via a toll free number or at a large selection of national retail stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart.

To keep you service active, you have to buy at least $15/month (150 mins). If, for some reason, you do not use the minimum amount of minutes, any unused minutes will acrue, so you don’t lose them.
Coverage is throughout the US, with some very minor exceptions- like rural Alaska – just like every cell phone service.
Net 10 sells a large variety of discounted cell phones from the Net10 website including top of the line companies like Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and LG starting from $19.99.
Any phone you buy form Net10 comes with 300 free minutes of call time- in other words 2 months worth.
Any problems with a phone or service can be addressed 24/7, either online or by calling their toll free number.
Here is a quick breakdown of how the Net10 service compares to AT&T and Verizon.
